Russian River Valley's Pinot Noirs
Last June, Russian river valley winemakers held a tasting of Pinot Noir from the western part of the Russian River appellation. Before the tasting, a member of the RRVW commented on the importance of Pinots Noir cultivation in the region: "We love the Pinot grapes in this western part of our appellations and are very happy to provide you with these ingredients. The unique thing about this area is the diversity of the soils and the maritime influence, he said, we have a great mix of different grape varieties and different climates. Oregon Pinot at its finest is the result of harnessing the coarse - grainy soils of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, which is the oldest in the valley, he said. Since many women make Pinots Noir, this wine is a bold expression of this grape and shows the influence of many of the best Californian winemakers, as well as the rich, complex flavor and texture of these grapes.
